Startup Maine Announces 2019 Conference, June 19-21

“Startups, Innovators, and Policy Makers”

PORTLAND, ME February 20 – Startup Maine, Northern New England’s pre-eminent conference for the startup community, has announced their sixth annual conference will be held June 19-21, 2019 at the Maine College of Arts (MECA) in downtown Portland, Maine.

Since 2014, the conference has brought together new and experienced entrepreneurs, along with those supporting the startup community for the multi-day conference designed to elevate and support startups in Maine. Organizers continue to design the event to foster connection-making in Maine’s “one-or-two degrees of separation” startup community.

“This year’s conference will be our most ambitious yet,” stated Katie Shorey, President and Chair of the non-profit organization.  “There is so much good news and many bright spots in our state related to the startup economy and, through the conference, we aim to help accelerate the creation and nurturing of startups.  We will soon be announcing some world-class keynote speakers, as well as our outstanding lineup of workshops.”

The conference theme, “Startups, Innovators, and Policy Makers”, dares the assembled group to grapple with big challenges we face at the local, national, and global level, and address how entrepreneurs can help solve them, while leveraging available support and partnerships.

The conference will host upwards of 25 workshops designed to provide the skills needed to accelerate an entrepreneur’s startup journey. Workshop applications are being accepted through the event website until March 1.

The cost of the two and a half day conference is an affordable $48. “Thanks to our sponsors, we have been able to keep the cost of attending low, so anyone who is an entrepreneur, creator, or startup-curious can join us!” Shorey said. This year’s presenting sponsors are Maine Technology Institute (MTI) and WEX, Inc. To help support the upcoming conference, please email Katie@StartupMaine.org.
